Tom Watson made a successful debut on the Senior PGA Tour at Indianapolis, joining four others atop the Comfort Classic leaderboard at six-under-par 66.
Six days after turning 50, Watson overcame crosswinds to grab a share of the lead with Bobby Stroble, Bob Eastwood, Jim Dent and Gary McCord.
Hal Sutton birdied the last two holes for a five-under 67 and took a one-stroke lead over three players in the Canadian Open at Oakville.
Se Ri Pak shot a one-under 71 and her 138 total kept her two strokes in front of Laura Davies, who also shot a 71, after the second round of the World Championship of Women’s Golf at Maple Grove, Minn.
Badminton
Michael Lamp and Pernille Harder of Denmark defeated Andy Chong and Yeping Tang of the United States, 15-8, 15-6, in mixed doubles at the U.S. Open Badminton semifinals in Orange. In the men’s doubles semifinals, Denmark’s Lamp and Jonas Rasmussen beat Ben Wu and Alex Liang, 9-15, 15-5, 15-7. The finals begin today at 4:30 p.m. at the Orange County Badminton Club.
