Military Will Be Along for the Run

The Year 2000 Millennium 10K/5K Run and 5K Walk will have a military feel to it next year because it will be held at the Armed Forces Reserve Center Airfield runways.
Lt. Col. Tom Lasser proposed the use of the base for the event, which for the past 20 years had been held on Los Alamitos streets. City Council members approved the location for the run and will sort out the details with the Parks and Recreation Commission, the Rossmoor Community Services District Board of Directors and the California Army National Guard.
A unique marker, such as a military helicopter, tank, jet fighter or C-5 cargo airplane will mark each mile up to the finish line.
The run will be held Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000.
