LOS ALAMITOS

In 1800, President John Adams and former First Lady Abigail Adams moved into a house that was barely completed, and so suffered inconveniences. For example, the first lady had to dry the family laundry in the East Room.
On Sunday the Los Alamitos/Rossmoor library will be celebrating the famous residence’s 200th birthday with a free presentation by actress Judith Helton. She will portray Abigail Adams and talk about what life was like in colonial America.
Colonial-theme cookies and refreshments will be served.
Reservations are recommended. The library is at 12700 Montecito Road in Rossmoor. Information: (562) 598-9218.
