Right-hander Kevin Millwood has been the Braves’ most consistent pitcher this season.
The 18-game winner earned the victory in Game 2 of the championship series. He had a victory and a save during the division series against Houston.
The Braves turn to Millwood tonight to help them clinch the National League championship series. Millwood welcomes the high-pressure job.
“My confidence is about as high as it’s been for a while,” said Millwood, who faces Met left-hander Al Leiter. “I think the last game I pitched here [Wednesday] against New York probably gave me more confidence than the game I pitched against Houston [a one-hitter], for the simple fact that I didn’t have my best stuff.
“I was still able to go out and keep our team in the game. I was still able to give us a chance to win. I think that’s the big thing about pitching, being able to go out without having your best stuff and being able to win.”
