Beach Pollution

* Thank you to The Times and Marla Cone for bringing beach pollution to the front page, where it belongs.
It is clear that we desperately need to improve the way urban runoff is handled, in addition to increasing public awareness and enforcement. The public needs to realize if you throw your trash on the ground, you either pick it up yourself or pay someone else.
The taxpayers are going to have to bear the responsibility for destroying California’s greatest commodity, our once pristine beaches.
Also, as someone who is in the ocean 12 months of the year, monitoring should not be restricted to the summer months.
