These Boots Are Made for Walking
Ever wonder how tourists from the States came to be known as “Ugly Americans”? For starters, maybe it’s those ratty running shoes we wear. Good walking shoes don’t have to be an eyesore. As a chic alternative to Nikes, these handsome Hogans boots have thick rubber soles for comfort and come in nylon, suede or leather. The line, which is hot among the haute monde, is from Italian shoe designer Diego Della Valle of Tod’s fame. Shown: Globe boot in orange suede, $315; selected styles available at Saks Fifth Avenue, (310) 887-5451, and Neiman Marcus, (310) 550-5900. *
