In a reorganization of its Irvine-based U.S. operations, Toshiba Corp. has created a new company, Toshiba America Business Solutions, to focus on image processing technologies in photocopiers, facsimiles and printers, the company said Tuesday.
The new company will be spun off from Toshiba America Information Systems and will be headquartered in the same office complex. It will have 1,200 employees nationwide, 400 of them in the Irvine headquarters.
Toshiba America Business, which will consist of four divisions that were previously part of Toshiba America Information, will focus on manufacturing and distributing copiers, manufacturing and distributing toner, developing digital controllers for printers, and operating the U.S. network of copier and fax dealers.
During the last fiscal year ended April 1, those divisions had revenues of $465 million, and the company said it expects revenues of $550 million in the current fiscal year.
The new company also said it expects its work force to grow between 5% and 10% over the next year.
