U.S. Missile Frigate to Be Open for Tour

The U.S. guided-missile frigate Sides will be docked at the Port Hueneme naval base and open for tours Wednesday at the base’s Wharf 3.
The ship is visiting the Naval Service Warfare Center at Port Hueneme for a combat systems check, during which base engineers will evaluate the ship’s ability to handle warfare.
The ship is used to escort and protect convoys with a variety of missile, gun and anti-submarine systems.
To see the ship, from 9 to 11 a.m. and from 1 to 3 p.m., enter the naval base through the Pleasant Valley Road gate and follow the signs to Wharf 3.
