Texas executed a California drifter for killing a businessman in a motel room the same day he was released from an Arkansas jail. In a final statement, John Michael Lamb apologized to relatives of the victim who attended the execution in Huntsville, Texas, as witnesses, saying he was sorry but that he could not bring the man back, Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokesman Larry Fitzgerald said. Lamb, 42, was the 30th convicted killer to be put to death by lethal injection in Texas this year and the 194th since the Lone Star State resumed capital punishment in 1982.
