Ricky Rollins, a senior at Palisades High, showed the value of experience, defeating Belmont freshman Norman Tam, 6-2, 6-4, in the City Section singles final at the Warner Center Tennis Club in Woodland Hills.
Rollins, the second-seeded player in the tournament, became the third consecutive Palisades player to win the singles title, following Danny Westerman in 1997 and Artin Tafazoli in 1998.
In doubles, top-seeded Blake Baumgarten and Peter Shirley of Palisades defeated unseeded Brad Steinberg and Brian Mintz of Granada Hills, 6-2, 6-3. It marked the fifth year in a row that a Palisades doubles team has won the title.
Thursday’s victories make it three consecutive years that Palisades has swept the team, singles and doubles championships.
