The City Council this week voted 3 to 2 in favor of an ordinance making it more difficult for teens to buy tobacco products. The ordinance prohibits self-service tobacco displays, such as racks and vending machines, in all businesses except those that specialize in the sale of tobacco products. The ordinance is intended to encourage vendor-assisted sales to keep tobacco out of the hands of minors.
