Arizona Researcher Discovers an 18th Moon Orbiting Uranus

Using 13-year-old photographs, a University of Arizona researcher has discovered an 18th moon orbiting the planet Uranus. Previously, Saturn was the only planet known to have as many as 18 satellites.
Erich Karkoschka said Wednesday that the satellite was discovered on reexamination of photos taken by Voyager 2 when it passed Uranus in January 1986. He found the new moon by comparing those images to new ones taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. The pictures can be viewed at https://science.opi.arizona.edu/pics/umoons.jpg.
