Gas Line Puncture Prompts Evacuation

Three Oxnard homes were evacuated Wednesday after a crew repairing a damaged telephone line punctured a natural gas line, fire officials said.
Four engine companies went to the 1800 block of North H Street Wednesday morning. A crew redoing the block’s curbs and sidewalks had damaged a telephone line, and while widening a hole to repair it, workers cut into a gas line, said Oxnard Fire Capt. Sal Velasquez.
Residents were removed from the homes while the line was fixed.
