‘Cleopatra,’ ‘Mrs. Pollifax’ and ‘Dr. Quinn’ Top May Movie List

The final weekend of May sweeps features movies starring such favorites as Angela Lansbury, Jane Seymour and Cicely Tyson, ABC’s big “Cleopatra” four-hour drama and the network premiere of the blockbuster “Independence Day.”

Barbra Streisand and Cis Corman are the executive producers of the 1998 documentary “City at Peace,” tonight at 7:30 on HBO. The 90-minute film profiles several of the 60 Washington, D.C., area teenagers from all walks of life who created a musical based on their personal experiences and problems.

Lansbury stars as a New Jersey widow who, because of mistaken identity, becomes a CIA spy in the lighthearted mystery “The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax,” tonight at 9 on CBS.

Seymour and Joe Lando star in the CBS movie “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman: The Movie,” Saturday at 8 p.m. This time, Dr. Mike and Sully search for their kidnapped daughter.

Don Cheadle, Mekhi Phifer, Cicely Tyson and Irma P. Hall star in HBO’s “A Lesson Before Dying,” Saturday at 9:30 p.m. Based on Ernest J. Gaines’ novel, the drama deals with a Louisiana teacher who helps an innocent young man die with dignity.

Leonor Varela, Timothy Dalton and Billy Zane star in ABC’s lavish four-hour historical spectacle about the Queen of the Nile, “Cleopatra,” Sunday at 9 p.m. The conclusion airs Monday at 9 p.m.
