The City Council, looking to make the planning process more efficient, wants to abolish the city’s Traffic Commission, according to letters commission members received Monday. The council cited a desire to speed up land-use development and to simplify traffic safety and operations as the main reasons for proposing the commission’s dissolution. Mayor Juan M. Garcia’s letter to members notes that the commission will remain intact until a resolution is drafted.
