Bus-Car Collision Injures 3 in Oxnard

OXNARD — Three people were injured Wednesday afternoon when a SCAT bus collided with a city code enforcer’s car, police said.
Code Enforcement Officer Joe Avelar, 61, was driving eastbound on 2nd Street about 3:30 p.m. when his city-owned car was struck by the northbound bus. Avelar’s vehicle was pushed to the other side of the intersection of C Street.
Avelar and two passengers on the bus, Victorino Albizu, 46, of Santa Paula, and Elizabeth Aldana, 22, of Oxnard, were all taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center.
Avelar was released after being treated for minor injuries. Aldana was treated for a sore shoulder. Albizu was still at the hospital Wednesday night.
No one was cited in the accident.
