Edison 2, Los Alamitos 0--Kelly Birk (8-11) pitched a no-hitter and Edison moved into a tie for third with the victory at Edison. The Chargers (11-14, 4-3) scored on Jamie Birk’s squeeze bunt and Hillary Hamilton’s run-scoring single in the fifth inning. Scarlett Neal went three for four and scored the winning run. Los Alamitos fell to 12-11, 4-3.
In the Academy league:
St. Margaret’s 8, Capistrano Valley Christian 4--Tracy Sherman hit a home run and Monique Kettler (8-9) got the win for St. Margaret’s (8-9, 4-3).
In the Century League:
Canyon 5, Santa Ana Valley 1--Dinae Geer’s RBI double in the fifth tied the score, 1-1, and Chrystal Hewitt’s two-run double in the seventh gave Canyon a 3-1 lead. The Comanches improved to 15-11-1, 4-3.
In the Empire League:
Century 2, Katella 0--Audri Sandoval hit an RBI single in the second inning and Kelly Medina hit an RBI double in the sixth for Century (11-11, 3-4). Nicole Silcox (1-3) struck out eight in a one-hitter for the Centurions.
El Dorado 2, Cypress 0--Jill Jessen (11-2) pitched a one-hitter as the Golden Hawks moved into a tie for first with Kennedy. El Dorado (18-3, 6-1) scored both runs on four singles in the first inning, including RBI base hits from Jessen and Caitlin Haworth-Yasger.
Loara 1, No. 10 Kennedy 0--Lauren Lappin singled to drive home Gina Vernazzaro in the sixth inning and Alicia Owen (7-5) struck out four and walked one for Loara (15-11, 4-3). Kennedy (14-8, 6-1) had the tying run on third base with two outs in the seventh, but Owen got the last batter to ground out.
In the Garden Grove League:
No. 4 Pacifica 7, Los Amigos 0--Toria Auelua went two for four with two RBIs and Jessica Soto (16-6) struck out eight in a two-hitter for Pacifica (17-7, 9-0). Los Alamitos is 13-8, 6-4. Dara Webb went two for four with three runs scored, an RBI and two stolen bases.
Rancho Alamitos 9, Bolsa Grande 0--Kristina Hyllested (8-11) pitched a one-hitter with 14 strikeouts for Rancho Alamitos (10-11, 5-4). Hyllested also had two hits and two RBIs for the Vaqueros.
In the Olympic League:
Calvary Chapel 13, Brethren Christian 1 (5, mercy)--Amanda Hallaway had two home runs, including a grand slam in the fourth inning, and drove in seven runs for Calvary Chapel (10-5, 8-2).
In the Pacific Coast league:
No. 9 Laguna Hills 11, Laguna Beach 0 (6, mercy)--Leadoff batter Leslie Simien led the way for Laguna Hills (19-4-2, 7-0), going four for four with four runs scored. Melissa Creeger (18-2) pitched a shutout, giving up two hits and striking out six.
