LA PALMA

The City Council approved a traffic signal at Walker Street and Houston Avenue, following pleas from a dozen residents for help in reducing accidents and speeding in their neighborhood. The city had been planning to add the light for 10 years, but neighboring Buena Park, which had to give its consent, blocked it because the design prohibited left turns and added to traffic concerns. La Palma redesigned the signal to win Buena Park’s approval last year. Installing the signal, along with upgrading the signal at La Palma Avenue and Redford Lane, will cost $105,000.
