The City Council recently approved an additional $142,000 for the pier extension, bringing the total cost of the project to about $550,000. The discovery of additional damage to the municipal pier and the need for longer pier piles--the posts that hold up the pier deck--are reflected in the total. Work is expected to be completed in the next three weeks, before the summer season gets into full swing. Information: (949) 361-8200.
