The Fullerton Museum Center has been awarded a $9,000 grant from the California Council for the Humanities for its upcoming exhibit, “Diagrams of the Cosmos: The Art of the Mandala.” The exhibit, which opens Sept. 18, is a multicultural exploration of religious, historical and artistic expressions using the mandala, a circular design of geometric forms and images of deities symbolizing the universe. Mandalas are closely associated with the art of India and Tibet.
In conjunction with the exhibit, the museum will also feature creation of a Yamantaka sand mandala by Tibetan Buddhist monks from the Gaden Shartse Monastery and a program of sacred dances from India. The center is at 301 N. Pomona Ave. For information about programs and activities, call (714) 738-6545.
