The Fountain Valley Alano Club is recruiting volunteers for its first Walk-A-Thon on Saturday to fight drug and alcohol abuse. The four-mile walk around Mile Square Regional Park will raise money to remodel the facility at 16581 Brookhurst St., said Alonzo Mitchell, executive director of the club, which serves as a social outlet for recovering alcoholics.
A portion of the funds raised at the Walk-A-Thon will be used to build a separate room for children to play and watch television in while their parents are in meetings, he said. The event costs $10 per person. Information: (714) 839-5501.
