HIGHLAND PARK — Police on Friday were seeking the killer of a woman who was shot to death in her home.
Janet Burrows-Tapia, 39, who was four months’ pregnant, was found about 11 a.m. Thursday at her home in the 900 block of North Avenue 65, said Los Angeles Police Officer Don Cox. A neighbor was asked to check on her welfare after the victim failed to show up for work.
Responding paramedics pronounced Burrows-Tapia dead at the scene, Cox said. Although there were signs of a forced entry, the motive for the slaying is unknown.
