UC Irvine Women Hang On to Beat Boise State

UC Irvine forced a turnover in the final 11 seconds to help preserve a 55-53 victory over Boise State in a Big West Conference women’s basketball game Friday at the Bren Center.
Megan Stafford had 15 points and six assists and Cindy Oparah had 10 points and eight rebounds for Irvine (6-8, 2-1 in conference), which held Boise State (7-8, 1-2) to 21% shooting from the field in the second half.
In another conference game:
Idaho 95, Cal State Fullerton 72--Visiting Idaho (9-6, 2-1) overwhelmed Fullerton (2-12, 0-3) as three Idaho players scored 16 or more points. Andrea Thieme was the leading scorer (20 points) and rebounder (nine) for the Titans.
In a nonconference game:
Chapman 80, UC Santa Cruz 52--Reserve April Abeyta had 10 points and 13 rebounds for visiting Chapman (12-3). Lisa Nielson had 15 points to lead the Panthers.
Brianne Faria scored 14 points for UC Santa Cruz (3-12).
