An arson at a Ross Dress for Less early Sunday morning prevented the store from opening, authorities said.
The fire started around 2:30 a.m. in the trash bin behind the store at 2845 E. Cochran St. and spread to the store’s stockroom. The Ventura County Fire Department responded and contained the fire just after 3 a.m. Structure damage was estimated at $5,000 and damage to contents was set at $15,000.
Although merchandise was damaged in the stockroom, there was no harm to the sales floor, said Tim Tinen, the store’s district manager.
