*** Above the Law, “Forever: Rich Thugs,” Street Solid. Thick, slow, funk-laden beats and street stories drive the Pomona trio’s sixth full-length album. Rappers KMG and Cold 187, who introduced the player-centric rap style nine years ago, continue that agenda while successfully building on their seemingly paradoxical platforms of black empowerment and pimping. Both KMG and Cold 187 sing on the album, adding their unpolished vocals to the moody beats backing them.
