The Catholic diocese in Orange County has given local churches the go-ahead to help flood victims in Venezuela.
“We’re taking up a collection of money,” said Sarah Larkin, receptionist at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in La Habra, which often helps with disaster relief efforts. The first collection for the Venezuela effort is scheduled for Sunday, Larkin said.
Churches in the county routinely band together when emergency relief is needed, said Sister Kathleen Gray, chancellor of Catholic Relief Services in Orange. In November, the group raised funds for victims of India’s cyclone.
Contributions can be sent to Fund No. 2075, P.O. Box 17220, Baltimore, Md. 21203-7090.
