Harvard-Westlake Relies on Lakey

Russell Lakey scored 32 points to help the Harvard-Westlake High boys’ basketball team defeat Channel Islands, 76-68, in pool play of the Thousand Oaks tournament on Monday.
Lakey made 12 of 17 shots, including six of seven three-pointers. He had seven assists.
Craig Weinstein had 13 points and Eric Geffner scored 11 and had 12 rebounds for the Wolverines (2-0), ranked No. 8 in the region by The Times.
Manny Berrelleza led Channel Islands (2-2) with 26 points.
In other tournament games:
Oak Park 73, Saugus 62--Jeremy Murphy scored 23 points and Zach Smith had 22 for the Eagles (2-0).
Tim Tampus and Justin Muszalski each scored 14 points for Saugus (3-2).
Oxnard 62, Grant 47--Matthew Merricks had 22 points and 10 rebounds for No. 3-ranked Oxnard (4-1).
Ricky Hernandez also had 10 rebounds for the Yellowjackets.
