The Orange County Sheriff’s Department is stepping up patrols at the Shops at Mission Viejo and other retail centers. Lt. Stan Jaquot, head of police services for the city, said burglaries and thefts rise significantly during the holiday season and that residents should lock their cars and store all packages in the trunk when shopping. The Sheriff’s Department will also have extra police in the city on weekends to help with traffic problems.
