To broaden the scope of community policing, the Anaheim Police Department is offering a 14-week police academy for residents beginning Sept. 2. From basic classroom instruction to presentations by vice and narcotics, K-9 and SWAT teams, the Citizen Police Academy will give residents a firsthand look into the agency operations with the aim of improving relations between the public and the Police Department.
