The City Council tonight will vote on whether to amend an 8-year-old purchase agreement with an electric power company in New Mexico, expanding the city’s ownership role and responsibilities concerning the operation of a coal-fired power station.
Under a previous agreement made with Public Services Co. in 1991, the city acquired a 10% (50 megawatts) ownership interest in Unit 4 of the San Juan Generating Station in the Four Corners area of New Mexico. Anaheim shares ownership of this unit with a joint power agency that includes the cities of Modesto, Santa Clara and Redding. Utah and a county in New Mexico also share interest in Unit 4.
The council meets at 5 p.m. in chambers, 200 S. Anaheim Blvd.
