The Democratic lieutenant governor and a Republican ex-congressman won their gubernatorial primaries after concentrating on feel-good messages that contrasted with the combativeness of outgoing Gov. Kirk Fordice. Lt. Gov. Ronnie Musgrove and Mike Parker will face off in November’s general election. The winner will replace Fordice, the first GOP governor in Mississippi since Reconstruction, who is barred from seeking a third term.
