At least 56 people were killed in the east of Congo, formerly known as Zaire, when militiamen loyal to President Laurent Kabila attacked a rebel military camp about 2 1/2 miles north of Goma, rebel officials said. Aid workers say thousands of people in eastern Congo have been displaced by fighting since the rebellion began.
