Opportunities for Volunteering

* The Organization for the Needs of the Elderly is seeking cheerful volunteers to assist in a variety of programs benefiting seniors and young children. Volunteer opportunities include assisting senior citizens, child care, arts and crafts, delivering meals to homebound seniors, serving lunch and clerical support.

Volunteers are also needed to assist in the organization’s Sunday morning farmers’ market. Duties include helping the farmers with sales, passing out samples and setting up individual stalls and booths. For more information, please call Carol Danziger, director of volunteers, at (818) 705-2345.

* The San Fernando Valley Literacy Council needs volunteers to serve as literary and English-as-a-second-language tutors. ESL training classes will be offered Saturday, Nov. 21 and Dec. 5. Literacy training classes are slated for Nov. 21 and Dec. 5. All classes will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 15435 Rayen St., North Hills.
