University Sets Record, Wraps Up Pacific Coast League Golf Title

University, the county’s top-ranked boys’ golf team, set a course record at El Niguel Country Club, beating No. 9 Aliso Niguel, 193-199, in a Pacific Coast League match Tuesday.
University’s Brian Sinay, Branden Fella and Bryan Miller each shot two-over-par 38, and the Trojans beat the previous record, set by Aliso Niguel this season, by three strokes. The Trojans won the league title, finishing 16-2, 10-0. Matt Diotte and Ryan Schuyler also shot 38 for the Wolverines (12-5, 7-3), who finished second in league.
In Sunset League golf:
No. 7 Huntington Beach 383, No. 4 Fountain Valley 386--Jason Katzen shot par 72 at SeaCliff to help Huntington Beach (15-2, 8-1) pull even with Fountain Valley atop the Sunset League standings.
In track and field:
Rain outs--Three league preliminaries were postponed because of rain and have been rescheduled.
The Century League preliminaries, originally scheduled to take place at El Modena High, will be run at 3 p.m. today at Santa Ana College. The finals were pushed back to Friday, also at Santa Ana.
The Garden Grove League prelims will take place today at 3 p.m. at Bolsa Grande High, with the finals set for Thursday.
The South Coast League will also begin today at Trabuco Hills High at 2:45 p.m., with the finals on Friday.
