Picnic to Kick Off Conejo Valley Days
As an early kickoff for Conejo Valley Days, a country picnic will be held at Borchard Community Park today from noon to 5 p.m.
Admission is free. Entertainment will be continuous throughout the day, with the Steve Stafford Band as the headliner.
There will be a petting zoo and pony rides for the children. The Tiny Tots Contest and Children’s Pageant will be held at 3 p.m. There is a $15 entrance fee per child.
The Elk’s Lodge barbecue wagon will be serving country fare, but people may bring their own food. Organizers suggest bringing blankets or tables because there are no picnic tables on the grounds.
There will also be craft booths and dance demonstrations.
Grand marshal candidates will be introduced, including the Ropin’ Reverend Larry Wagner, a pastor at Ascension Lutheran Church, and the Animal Crackers, a group of five women.
The picnic will still be held if there is only light rain, but if there are heavy rains it will be rescheduled for next weekend.
The 42nd annual Conejo Valley Days, whose theme is “Conejo Is Great in 98,” is scheduled for April 24 through May 1.
