Anti-Asia Policy

In “Treason Probe--or Witch Hunt?” (Commentary, June 16) Tom Plate describes yet another important international issue, this time the Chinese rocket launching of U.S. communications satellites, where Republican Party hysteria in Congress is out of step with underlying American interests.
The Republican Congress fails to pay United Nations dues, subverts international population planning efforts and will not move to approve the $18-billion contribution to the International Monetary Fund. In particular, many Southern California residents with property and business interests in the collapsing economies of Southeast Asia are experiencing real stress.
It’s time to connect the dots between these different issues and see that the Republican Congress is pursuing a virulently anti-California and anti-Asia campaign.
