Driver Arrested After Car Hits Power Pole

A Simi Valley man was in the Ventura County Jail on Thursday on suspicion of drunken driving after his car hit a power pole in the city the night before, authorities said.
Raul Palomarez, 39, suffered only minor injuries in the 11:30 p.m. accident on Alamo Street east of Tapo Street, but the accident knocked the pole down and caused a power outage in the neighborhood for about an hour, a Simi Valley Police Department spokesman said.
Alamo Street had to be closed between Tapo Street and Fairbanks Avenue to allow crews to clean up the damage, the spokesman said.
Palomarez is being held in lieu of $1,500 bail, a jail spokesman said. He is set to be arraigned Monday, the spokesman said.
