City Council Rejects Police Abuse Claim

The Glendora City Council has rejected a $75,000 claim by a San Dimas man alleging that he was mistakenly arrested by police and roughed up by a jailer.
Jerome Whitworth alleges that after his Jan. 25 arrest, jailer Ken Tucker grabbed his arm and caused him to fall, according to the Feb. 12 claim.
Whitworth was stopped for expired vehicle registration, police said. Officers arrested him on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court. The warrant was actually for Whitworth’s brother, who had given Jerome’s name when he was arrested.
Police said that another inmate, who witnessed the jailhouse incident, said “the officer did not use any force.”
