BIG BEAR LAKE--Jazz, folk and blues artists will be accompanied by a scenic view Saturday at the first Open Sky Musical Festival at Whaler Pointe Lakeside Park, 350 Alden Drive. Vendors will sell food and drinks while visitors, encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs, spread out on the grass. 11 a.m.-7 p.m. $20 per person. (909) 866-4607..
SAN DIEGO--Traditional arts, crafts, food, songs and stories will be found at the 14th annual Indian Fair next weekend. More than 100 American Indian artisans and entertainers will be there. Visitors can sample posole stew, piki (Hopi bread) and other fare, and buy quilts, sculptures and masks. There also will be crafts activities for children. 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday and June 15 at the Museum of Man, 1350 El Prado. $5 adults, $3 ages 6-17, under 6 free (includes museum admission). DUNSMUIR--Railroad Days, first celebrated in 1940, is on track for June 21 with a craft fair, carnival and a noon parade along Dunsmuir Avenue. FERNDALE--The 47th annual Scandinavian Festival, June 28 and 29, will conjure up some of the scents, sights and sounds of Scandinavia. Folk art, as well as fare such as aebleskivers (a type of pancake), pea soup and sausages , will be for sale. At 1 p.m. June 29, costumed participants will conduct a Grand March. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. June 28 along Main Street; 11 a.m.-3 p.m. June 29 at Humboldt County Fairgrounds, at 5th and Arlington streets. SOLVANG--The third annual Solvang Music and Arts Festival, June 28 and 29, will feature fancy footwork, fine art, food and music. There will be refreshments and artwork for sale, country and jazz musicians and dance troupes. Free admission. The Cabaret at the Carousel ($25 per person), starting at 4 p.m. June 28, will include wine tasting and auctions. 10 a.m.-8 p.m. June 28, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. June 29 in the Solvang Designer Outlets courtyard, 320 Alisal Road.
