Ventura police arrested one man and are continuing their search for two more suspected in a rash of car burglaries in Ventura early Friday, authorities said.
Fernando Perez, 23, was arrested about 2:30 a.m. after a short foot chase by officers, police said.
According to authorities, when police approached Perez and the other two men in the 700 block of Durham Lane, they fled and hid in the surrounding neighborhood.
Police then caught up with the men after they allegedly started a small fire by tampering with a security light at a residence. A second foot chase ensued, after which police arrested Perez and recovered property believed stolen from several vehicles, police said.
