City Decides on Design for Park

After months of study, Moorpark officials have settled on a design for a park that will be built on what is now a weedy hillside.
The City Council this week picked a plan for building a 6.5-acre park in the Carlsberg development, a construction project that will bring 552 homes to the hills south of Los Angeles Avenue and west of California 23.
A city agreement with the developer had already sketched the park’s basic outline. It calls for a softball diamond and dugouts, regulation soccer field, basketball court and two tennis courts.
The council approved a design showing how all those elements will fit together. To lessen the impact of noise and lighting on neighbors, the amenities will be placed as far from nearby homes as possible, separated from the residences by a hillside.
