Ford Motor Co. priced shares in the $480-million initial public offering of its Hertz Corp. car-rental unit at $24 each. The IPO is slated for next week. . . . Former Kidder Peabody & Co. bond trader Joseph Jett, accused of scheming to falsify profits and earn millions in bonuses, faked entries in a diary crucial to his defense, the Securities and Exchange Commission charged. The SEC made the allegations in final documents filed as part of its administrative case seeking to punish Jett for the trading scandal that hastened Kidder’s demise. Jett’s attorney said the SEC’s assertions were “completely false and desperate.” . . . Gibson Greetings Inc. said it named Frank O’Connell as chairman, replacing Albert Pezzillo.
