Granada Hills Ties Up a Share of Crown

Chris Tran had eight kills and Granada Hills High clinched at least a tie for the Northwest Valley Conference boys’ volleyball title with a 15-6, 15-6, 15-0 victory over Cleveland on Wednesday at Granada Hills.
Aaron Goldstein added seven kills and five aces for the Highlanders (11-0, 8-0 in league play), who can clinch the title by winning one of their last two matches.
Royal d. Camarillo, 15-6, 15-4, 15-10--Marc Chaffee had eight kills for the Highlanders (11-0, 9-0) in a Marmonte League match at Royal.
Kennedy d. Birmingham, 15-4, 15-4, 15-10--Jeff Toon had 10 kills for the Golden Cougars (7-4, 4-4) in a Northwest Valley Conference match at Birmingham.
Chatsworth d. Taft, 15-3, 11-15, 6-15, 15-8, 15-13--Stephen Wiessner had 26 kills and Chris Wilson had 15 blocks for the Chancellors (7-4, 6-2) in a Northwest Valley Conference match at Taft.
Joe Nargi had 35 kills for the Toreadors (7-4, 4-4).
Highland d. Antelope Valley, 15-7, 15-8, 12-15, 15-12--Karl Buckman had 16 kills and Tom Haight added 15 for the Bulldogs (8-1, 5-0) in a Golden League match at Highland.
Campbell Hall d. Crossroads, 15-8, 15-12, 15-11--Larry Cole and Jon Rosenberg each had 12 kills for the Vikings (8-2, 4-0) in an Alpha League match at Campbell Hall.
BOYS’ TRACK
Palmdale 81, Littlerock 55--Bryan Green won the 800 meters, the 1,600 and the 3,200 for the defending Golden League champion Lobos, but the Falcons (6-0, 5-0) had three double winners to clinch the league title at Palmdale.
BOYS’ TENNIS
Granada Hills 6, El Camino Real 1--Ali Fakhari and Lee Weinstein finished the season undefeated at No. 2 doubles for the Highlanders (11-0, 10-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference match at El Camino Real.
Campbell Hall 12, Whitney 6--Josh Glass and James Chun, 38-1 this season, swept at No. 1 doubles for the Vikings (13-0, 4-0) in a Delphic League match at Cerritos Park East.
Calabasas 11, Malibu 7--Nick Weiss lost only one game in singles play for the Coyotes (11-5, 5-0) at Calabasas.
Thousand Oaks 11, Camarillo 7--Jeff Linneman swept at No. 1 singles for the Lancers (9-5, 8-2) in a Marmonte League match at Camarillo.
