U.S. Plans Retrial in Robberies, Bombings

Three white separatists will be retried on charges linked to two bank robberies and bombings at newspaper and Planned Parenthood offices in Spokane, where the first trial ended with a deadlocked jury, U.S. Atty. James Connelly said. A jury did not reach a decision on Washington charges against Verne Jay Merrell, Charles Barbee and Robert Berry, all of Sandpoint, Idaho. But it convicted them of lesser charges in an Oregon bank robbery attempt.
