Softball
Beck, a right fielder from Garden Grove High, had only seven hits in seven games for Cypress, but she made the most of them. She drove in nine runs and scored eight as the Chargers went 6-1 and won their own tournament. She drove in half of her runs with a grand slam in a 17-3 victory over Citrus. She had another home run in the tournament to give her four this season.

* Irvine Valley, freshman. She scored 17 points as Irvine Valley beat Rancho Santiago, 76-58, then had 17 again as the Lasers beat Riverside, 72-45.

Craig Kuzmic
Cypress, Sophomore
Baseball
Kuzmic, a sophomore from La Quinta High, has switched from the outfield to catcher this season, but he hasn’t let learning a new position bother his hitting. Kuzmic nine for 22 as Cypress won five games. Kuzmic, who had two triples and a double, scored nine runs and drove in six as Cypress beat Fresno, 5-4, Wednesday, then won four games in the Cy-Coast tournament.

* Golden West, freshman. He scored 33 points and had 14 rebounds as the Rustlers beat Orange Coast, 87-75.
