ANAHEIM — A 35-year-old Anaheim man who was wounded two months ago in a car-to-car shooting died this week in the hospital, turning the police inquiry into a homicide investigation, authorities said.
Police have no suspects in the slaying of Gumaro Garcia, who was shot Nov. 2 as he rode southbound in the passenger seat of a friend’s car on State College Boulevard, just north of the Riverside Freeway, according to Anaheim Police Sgt. Steve Rodig.
Garcia died Monday afternoon at Chapman Medical Center in Orange, where he has been hospitalized since the shooting.
The investigation is moving forward, Rodig said, and detectives do not believe the shooting was gang related.
