Carol Anne James Is Bus Driver of Year
Carol Anne James has been named Orange County’s bus driver of the year by the California Highway Patrol.
The honor goes to school bus drivers with outstanding safety records, good performance or a distinguished act of heroism. James has been driving for the Irvine Unified School District for 20 years and beat out 2,750 other county bus drivers for the award.
James has an immaculate driving record and has not missed a day of work in seven years, district officials said. She is employed by Ryder Student Transportation Services, which contracts its services to Irvine schools.
The CHP will recognize bus drivers at a ceremony in April. James and recipients from other counties are contenders for the state honor of bus driver of the year.
