Participants Sought for 1st Mural Festival
- Share via
Painters, street performers, volunteers, mural sponsors and contributions of paint are needed for Saturday’s inaugural Oxnard Mural Painting Festival.
The festival, sponsored by the Oxnard Gang Prevention Art and Mural program that was formed last April, is an attempt to give the slumbering downtown a boost while promoting a message of peace to stop the gang violence that has plagued the city.
The festival needs mural artists, people willing to sponsor a mural “scholarship” for kids who cannot afford the $2.50 per foot cost, sidewalk jugglers and musicians and many other volunteers.
The festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 535 Meta St., site of the program’s first massive mural of sea life.
