No. 1 Mater Dei (4-0) vs. No. 2 Servite (4-0)
7:30 P.M. FRIDAY
CAL STATE FULLERTON
This one got a big boost when second-ranked Capistrano Valley was upset by Atascadero, 14-12, last week. That defeat allowed Servite to move up a notch from its No. 3 ranking. The game annually draws 10,000 fans, but this year’s battle between Nos. 1 and 2 is expected to be an even hotter draw. Purchase tickets early as Titan Stadium’s capacity is only 10,000. As for the teams, each is talent-laden and high-scoring. Irvine, a common opponent, had Mater Dei on the ropes last week, but lost, 35-30. Servite defeated the Vaqueros, 35-19. Last year, the Monarchs rallied to win, 10-7.
