Huntington Beach High hosts the Los Angeles Field Hockey Assn. tournament from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.
Ten teams will be competing, including the eight from Orange County with field hockey teams: Edison, Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, Marina, Newport Harbor, Santa Ana, Santiago and Westminster. These teams, plus La Verne Bonita and Glendora, make up the Sunset League, the only field hockey league in the Southern Section.
Today, each team will play five 25-minute scrimmages. The regular season starts Monday and the championship game, which is not sanctioned by the section, is in November. Edison is the defending champion, having defeated Santiago in last year’s final.
